Oracle Sequoia Data Center UCF Cell 2.1 T.I

Sure Steel, Inc. partnered up with Holder Construction to complete a 22,000 SqFt build out of the existing space to support new equipment for the West Jordan data center. The $1.4M project involved supplying and installing structural steel frames to support the Hot and Cold equipment panels, replacing joist from inside the structure to support new rooftop units, and installing reinforcing members throughout the space. Sure Steel, Inc. safely installed approximately 350 tons of structural steel on this project. With limited access, restricted working space, and many other major trades working simultaneously, Sure Steel, Inc. carefully collaborated with the project team through BIM Coordination, safety planning, and constant communication to ensure that the project ran smoothly.

Project Nephogram

Project Nephogram – CYS04 was a highly complex data center structure with a very aggressive schedule. Sure Steel was contracted to install the 2,066 tons of structural steel for the building structure. The project had a building footprint of approximately 344,370 SqFt. Sure Steel was also contracted by Hensel Phelps to provide and install all of the insulated metal panels around the perimeter of the entire structure, as well as in several locations in the interior. In total there was 140,000 SqFt of both 3’ and 8” insulated panels installed on this project. Sure Steel was given a very aggressive schedule to erect this project in its entirety. Sure Steel ran multiple shifts in order to meet the aggressive deadlines. The harsh weather in the Wyoming winters created some difficult challenges, especially due to the wind in the area. Although these challenges made the work difficult, we found solutions and completed the project on schedule. All structural steel fabricated and erected for this project met the AISC quality requirements. One of the greatest challenges was the detailed finish of the Insulated Metal Panels. The finish required by the owner on the panels required great precision and quality in order to meet the quality standards. Our onsite quality control team did a great job in ensuring a quality finished product. Sure Steel worked nearly 93,000 man hours on this project, operating in less then desirable conditions with safety as our number one priority. There were no lost time incidents on this project, adding to our already impeccable safety record.

Verizon Wireless Data Center

Verizon Wireless Data Center

The restricted site and limited access for the Verizon Wireless Data Center were no match for Sure Steel, Inc. and their proficient project team. The 2-story, 130,500 SqFt Data Center in Rocklin, CA required heavy coordination and strategic planning from Sure Steel, Inc. in order to supply and erect the 1,405 tons of steel safely and on time, but Sure Steel, Inc. worked closely with all project stakeholders to complete the $4.6M turnkey contract in a safe and efficient manner. Sure Steel, Inc. leveraged just-in-time deliveries to overcome the minimal laydown yard, utilized 19,500 man hours and overtime to meet the aggressive 12 week time frame, and provided a full-time on-site safety manager to make sure that everyone went home safe each day.

Project Mills Phase II

The Mills Phase II Warehouse & Office, located in Sparks, NV, is evidence of Sure Steel, Inc.’s commitment and dedication to a successful project. The 88,344 SqFt data center, which consists of 3 separate but connected structures, was completed in a short 58 days, despite large scalefield changes to scope and an original ‘erect-only’ contracted schedule of just 68 days. Using strategic manpower coordination and practical solutions, Sure Steel, Inc.’s project team decided to simultaneously utilize 5-6 separate crews and run 3 cranes in order to meet the tight schedule implemented by the GC. The 681 tons of steel and 643,000 SqFt of panels were erected without any safety incidences, making it another safe Sure Steel, Inc. project.

Utah Data Center

The 1 million SqFt Bluffdale / Camp Williams LEED Silver facility houses a 100,000 SqFt mission critical Tier III data center with the remaining 900,000 SqFt being used for technical support and administrative space. The massive twenty building complex also includes water treatment facilities, chiller plants, electric substation, fire pump house, warehouse, vehicle inspection facility, visitor control center, and sixty diesel-fueled emergency standby generators and fuel facility for a 3-day 100% power backup capability. Sure Steel, Inc. was part of the structural team on this project erecting the structural steel one of the larger structures, the generator plants.

Oracle Utah

Oracle Sequoia Data Center

As one of the most efficient data centers for Oracle Corporation. Sure Steel, Inc. is proud to have been a key part of the construction and design of the Sequoia Data Center in West Jordan, UT. Sure Steel, Inc. played a design-assist role in this project, helping incorporate major changes that improved overall schedule and reduced costs. Being involved early in the design process also helped ensure quality and performance of the structure. The steel portion of the 245,000 SqFt, state-of-the-art building was completed to AISC standards with minimal punch list items. The 11 week time frame to complete the miles of welding required on this project presented a challenge, but Sure Steel, Inc. overcame the challenge and leveraged all efficiencies to safely deliver the project on time. Sure Steel, Inc. safely worked 23,000 man hours to install the 3,055 tons of structural steel, joist, and deck.
