This was a design/build hangar for the United States Air Force built at Hickam Air Force Base Hawaii. A hybrid building system was employed to integrate both structural steel and pre-engineered metal building components. The 50,000 SqFt, 90 foot tall hangar utilized a structural steel frame with open web joists, light gauge zee girts, insulated metal wall panels, as well as un-insulated single skin panels, and a Butler MR24 roof system. This project was supplied and erected by Sure Steel. All cladding and trims were designed and detailed by Sure Steel. Sure Steel worked over 21,631 hours on this project without a lost time accident or injury. Special rigging was required to erect the long span trusses that weighed in excess of 50,000 pounds.
