Working with design/build contractor Gray Construction, Sure Steel was contracted by Cooper Steel to erect the 763 tons of steel for this 207,000 SqFt cold storage distribution facility located in Spanaway, Washington. The main structure was composed of steel columns and open web joists with the exterior being concrete tilt walls with insulated metal panels. Our scope was completed on schedule and without any lost time incidents thanks to the careful planning and safety awareness of our employees. The facility is owner Mitsui-Soko’s first greenfield operation and supports just-in-time distribution services. The new facility is specifically engineered to meet the unique and exacting requirements of the aerospace industry, featuring both refrigerated and ambient temperature warehouse space on over twelve acres. Additionally, it offers maximum flexibility and the secure storage of product in a precisely controlled environment. Mitsui-Soko, a Japan-based company, has more than 100 years experience in warehousing and logistics and has provided service to the U.S. for more than 35 years.
