As demand for data continues to accelerate, owners are under increasing pressure to bring capacity online faster without sacrificing cost control or long-term performance.

SLC-01 Building B is a 240,000 sq ft Tier IV data center in West Jordan, Utah, delivering 48MW of power with expansion capability up to 80MW. Built for Aligned Energy, the project required a delivery approach that could keep pace with both schedule demands and future scalability.

Sure Steel partnered with Turner Construction in a design-assist role to reduce uncertainty early, aligning the structure, budget, and schedule before they became constraints. Instead of following the original tilt-wall and conventional framing design, the team collaborated with Steel Concepts to transition to insulated metal panels, simplifying coordination and accelerating enclosure.

Working alongside L.A. Fuess, the structural system was further refined to reduce overall weight, removing unnecessary cost while maintaining performance. These decisions allowed the team to move faster in the field and helped position the owner to take occupancy sooner and begin leasing earlier.

Across 1,322 tons of structural steel, the work was executed without a single lost-time incident, reflecting a field-first approach where safety, coordination, and accountability are owned from start to finish.
