Located in Salt Lake City, Utah, the Kathryn F. Kirk Center for Comprehensive Cancer Care and Women’s Cancers at the Huntsman Cancer Institute includes 48 inpatient rooms, four operating rooms and for floor for treating breast and gynecologic cancers, among other upgrades. Sure Steel began working on this project in September 2020. This was a turnkey, structural steel, design-assist project where we spent one year helping drive design to maximize the budget and keep in line with the TVD approach. The project consisted of approximately 215,000 square feet and 2,210 tons of steel. After completing 47,215 man hours, Sure Steel completed their portion of the building in 2021. This project has special meaning to Sure Steel with it’s approach to fighting cancer and doing cancer research. Sure Steel is active in this effort, as we have teamed up with 5 for the Fight to help find a cure for cancer. At the ribbon cutting ceremony held in 2023, it was unveiled that Sure Steel was to have an inpatient room named after them as part of our partnership with 5 for the Fight.
